Weathering the Storm

How much can a person handle?  Why does it often feel like the weight on our shoulders gets heavier and heavier day by day?

I watch as everyone around me moves quickly, in the zone, bustling from one important task to another in their lives.  Then “BAM!”, someone loses their job, receives a devastating health diagnosis or some other unexpected difficulty arises in their lives.  The daily challenges suddenly seem small when this other news arrives.

At the company where I work (my other job), many of my friends recently lost their jobs due to downsizing.  I see people supporting each other in various ways and I see people really evaluating life priorities.

Somehow in the flow of life, it seems that the right people show up at the right time.  Perhaps someone we met months ago is suddenly serving a different purpose.

When I was struggling with social anxiety disorder, the sadness and pain I experienced felt never-ending.  I often gave up hope that life would change in a positive way.  But now, on the other side of that ‘storm’, I can see how it all worked out as it should have.  I met many wonderful people as I pushed through the ‘storm’ and here I am today, sharing my story with all of you.

Our life path has many twists and turns and maybe right now you are at a crossroads … uncertain what to do with the next phase of your career, or unsure how to get help for your health challenges.  Pray for strength, pause, and listen for the answers.  Put on your protective armor and move forward as the waves keep crashing against you.  Help will show up for you in unexpected ways.  And the challenges will make you stronger!  I thought I’d share one of my favorite Christian songs by Mandisa – Stronger:

No matter what you are dealing with right now, I send you wishes for the courage you need to push through.

Sending you love and hugs,
